Cam Ward is set to emerge as Michigan State's primary power forward this season, entering his sophomore year with a clear path to the starting lineup.
His summer performances in the Moneyball Pro‑Am have already turned heads; Ward averaged more than 34 points per game and erupted for 47 points, including seven three‑pointers, against Team BLT.
The road to this moment hasn't been smooth. A fractured wrist sustained on Thanksgiving sidelined him for much of his freshman campaign, forcing him to adapt and recover.
Now fully healthy, Ward is embracing a bigger responsibility, aiming to be the go‑to option for his team and to mentor the influx of fresh talent arriving on campus.

Coach Tom Izzo has long emphasized discipline and versatility, and he sees Ward's blend of size, shooting and rebounding as a perfect fit for his system.
