A transatlantic clash of talent
Two Rutgers field hockey standouts are set to make their mark on the international stage as the 4 Nations Tournament kicks off in England.
Goalkeeper Emily Nicholls, a freshman who earned Big Ten All‑Freshman Team honors, will wear the United States jersey at the event, which runs from July 8 through July 15 at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Lilleshall, England.
Forward Anna Cogdell, also a freshman and a Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch, will represent England, bringing a blend of academic excellence and athletic prowess to the competition.
The tournament field includes Belgium and India as additional participants, with both teams opening their campaigns against India on consecutive days before the United States and England meet twice during the week‑long schedule.
Nicholls and Cogdell each carry prior international experience, having previously donned their national colors in earlier competitions, underscoring the depth of talent emerging from the Big Ten.
A New Generation of Talent
Their participation reflects the growing reach of Rutgers’ program and the broader impact of the Big Ten Conference on global sport, a point highlighted by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
