Coaching and travel together consumed nearly half of that spending, with $1.99 million directed to salaries and $1.03 million to movement across the country, a combined share of 47 percent of the program’s costs.
Beyond those line items, the university allocated more than $500,000 to athletic student aid, underscoring the broader financial support required to sustain a competitive roster.
Revenue streams remain modest; ticket sales topped the ledger at $573,371, while the program also benefited from $171,473 in NCAA distributions and $130,509 from parking, concessions and novelty items.

When viewed against peers, Mississippi State’s coaching payroll pales in comparison to the $6.3 million paid to South Carolina’s Dawn Staley — including a $2.2 million third‑party contribution — and the $5.2 million outlay for LSU’s Kim Mulkey.
Conference leaders such as South Carolina have leveraged external funding to boost their revenue base, a dynamic that continues to widen the fiscal gap for programs operating without similar third‑party backing.
