Brown University announced Tuesday that Mia Borley will join its field hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of playing and defensive experience to the program.
Borley comes to Providence after three seasons as an assistant at Stonehill College, where she helped the team capture six America East Conference (All-NEC) honors and contributed to a program that has steadily risen in national rankings.
A Defensive Mindset for the Bears
During her tenure at the University of Maine, Borley anchored the net as a five‑year starter, logging 89 starts in 91 appearances and posting a 1.65 goals‑against average with a .717 save percentage.
Her standout 2021 season earned her All‑America East Goalkeeper of the Year, First Team honors and the Defensive Player of the Week award twice, while guiding Maine to its first America East title and an NCAA Tournament berth.
Now, alongside head coach Britt Broady and fellow assistant Frankie O'Brien, Borley hopes to steer Brown to its third consecutive Ivy League Tournament appearance in 2026, reinforcing the Bears’ defensive depth as they chase an Ivy crown.
The addition of Borley reflects Brown’s commitment to blending seasoned Ivy League experience with fresh talent, a strategy that could pay dividends as the program looks to cement its place among the conference’s elite.
