Creighton Baseball opened its season series against Omaha with a 15‑10 victory on Wednesday, April 22, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, a venue that has become a familiar battleground for the two Nebraska rivals.
A Fourth‑Inning Surge
The Bluejays’ offense exploded for five home runs, including a pair from senior slugger Teddy Deters and another duo from Nick Venteicher, while Ben North added a solo shot in the third inning to keep the momentum rolling.
Creighton’s fourth inning was a turning point, as the team plated five runs, highlighted by an RBI single from North and a two‑run hit from Connor Capece that pushed the lead to double digits.
Pitcher Max McClellan provided the bulk of the work on the mound, delivering two scoreless innings to preserve the advantage, while reliever Michael Sall struggled for Omaha, surrendering three runs in just 1.2 innings.
Omaha refused to go quietly, rallying with two runs in the seventh and four in the eighth to narrow the gap to 14‑9, but the Bluejays answered back in the ninth with a solo homer from Venteicher that sealed the final score.
The win not only gave Creighton a sweep of the season series but also positioned the team for its next test against Butler on Friday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m., a matchup that could further shape its conference standing.
