The Yarmouth Dennis-Red Sox rolled past the Brewster Whitecaps on Tuesday night, posting a 5-0 victory that lifted their record to 18-2-1 in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
At the heart of the offense, Dante Vachini turned in a standout showing, delivering two extra-base hits, three RBIs and a home run in the third inning, his second of the season, while consistently driving in runs that stretched the lead.
Mound Mastery
Cade O'Leary made his first Cape Cod League start and dominated the mound, fanning seven batters over four innings while keeping the Whitecaps scoreless. He credited a disciplined breathing routine for maintaining focus throughout his outing.
Relief work was equally crisp. Nolan Bernard earned the win after tossing two solid innings with two strikeouts, and the bullpen continued the shutout with Zach Robinson, Rhett Vaughn and Brisen Tweedy each handling a frame in the seventh, eighth and ninth.
The team now turns its attention to a July 10 showdown with the Bourne Braves, scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. EDT first pitch, a matchup that could further cement their early-season momentum.
