A Return to Alma Mater
Louis Beckett, who completed his degree in Sports Economics in 2025, has transitioned from a standout playing career to a coaching role on the UNC Asheville men's soccer staff. His recent graduation and deep ties to the campus community position him as a natural bridge between current athletes and the program's future.
Head coach Danny Frid expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, highlighting Beckett's fresh perspective and the passion he developed while wearing the Bulldogs' colors. Frid noted that Beckett's recent experience on the field will enrich the team's tactical development and culture.
On‑Field Achievements
During his final two seasons, Beckett appeared in 33 matches, starting 14 of them, and contributed eight goals and seven assists. His performances earned him a spot on the 2025 Big South Conference Top Returners Watch List, a Big South Offensive Player of the Week award on October 13, 2025, and a place on the Top Drawer Soccer Honorable Mention Team the following day. He also received a College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District selection.
Beyond statistics, Beckett's leadership was evident in his consistent presence across the Asheville campus during the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, where he helped shape a competitive and cohesive unit.
Off the pitch, Beckett's academic focus complements his athletic background. His degree in Sports Economics reflects a commitment to understanding the broader business and analytical dimensions of sport, a perspective he plans to bring to the coaching staff.
