A Strategic Return
Cody Kelley is back on the University of Hawai'i men's basketball coaching staff, this time as an assistant coach. His return follows a season in which he helped the Rainbow Warriors to a 20‑win campaign and a semifinal run in the Big West Championship, plus a victory in the inaugural Acrisure Invitational in Palm Springs, California.
Head coach Eran Ganot praised Kelley’s basketball mind and work ethic, noting that his international experience adds a valuable dimension to the program.
International Experience
Kelley’s coaching journey has taken him across the Pacific, where he spent two seasons with Japan’s Ibaraki Robots in the B.League and previously led the Chiba Jets to a league‑record 53 regular‑season wins.
A Record of Winning
Before his overseas adventure, he honed his craft as an assistant at Memphis, contributing to the 2021 NIT championship team, and began his career as a graduate assistant after a collegiate playing stint at Wyoming and South Dakota.
A Wyoming native, Kelley holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Wyoming and two master’s degrees from the University of South Dakota, underscoring his commitment to both study and sport.
His blend of domestic success and overseas expertise is expected to bolster recruiting, player development, and the overall competitiveness of the Rainbow Warriors as they look ahead to the next season.
