Howard Dillard Jr. Takes the Helm at Mayfield Lady Cardinals
Howard Dillard Jr. has been appointed head coach of the Mayfield High School Lady Cardinals basketball team, bringing 26 years of coaching experience to a program that finished last season with a 14‑13 record.
Dillard’s career includes leadership roles at Dyersburg State Community College and Shawnee Community College, as well as assistant positions at Graves County, Murray, Hickman County and Fulton City high schools, giving him a broad perspective of Kentucky basketball.
He previously guided the Paducah Tilghman Lady Tornado to a 5‑17 record in the 2025‑26 season, and his extensive background spans both high school and collegiate arenas.
A Murray State University graduate, Dillard is currently pursuing a master’s degree in postsecondary education administration, reflecting his dedication to professional growth.
The new coach is focused on developing the team’s next generation of players and maintaining Mayfield’s competitiveness within the First Region, aiming to build on the program’s recent successes.
