The News-Gazette's final baseball Top 10 poll for the 2026 season has been released, crowning St. Joseph-Ogden as the state champion after a historic 40-2 record in Class 2A.

Armstrong-Potomac celebrated its first sectional title since 2003, marking its fourth regional crown in five seasons, and Monticello opened the year with a 21-game winning streak.
The poll highlighted individual milestones, such as Mahomet-Seymour coach Nic DiFilippo registering his 400th career victory, and a host of standout players whose contributions shaped their teams' journeys.
Names like Josh Haley, Trevor Ames, Parker Fitch and many others were frequently mentioned in game recaps, illustrating the depth of talent across the region.
Coaches such as Nic DiFilippo and Austin Wike guided their squads through demanding schedules, while players including Bryson Houchens, Kodey McKinney and Logan Rosenthal delivered performances that will be remembered for years.
The final rankings also reflected the competitive balance in the area, with teams from Champaign County to Vermilion County all earning recognition for their seasonal achievements.
