Former Marietta College Star Jason Ellis Appointed Head Coach of Tigers Boys Basketball

Ellis brings a philosophy of toughness and effort as he steps into the role, navigating a transitional season

Jason Ellis, a former Marietta College standout, has been appointed head coach of the Marietta High School boys basketball program, taking the reins of a team poised for a fresh start.

A New Era for Tigers Basketball

Ellis played for Marietta College from 2017 to 2022, amassing more than 1,500 points and reaching a Final Four, while earning First Team All‑American honors as one of only two Pioneers to receive that distinction.

His coaching journey includes a season as an assistant under Jon VanderWal at Marietta College and a recent role on the girls basketball staff alongside his fiancée, Ali Shane.

Ellis says his approach centers on toughness, effort and energy, insisting that every drill, practice and game must be executed with relentless hustle and the right attitude. He acknowledges that the Tigers will undergo a transition this season, with several key seniors having graduated, but he remains confident in the emerging roster.
