A Tenure Defined by Playoff Consistency
Jim Hastings, the longtime baseball coach at Fox Chapel, announced his resignation after nine seasons that saw the team reach the playoffs every year and amass more than a hundred varsity victories.
During his tenure the Foxes posted a 12‑9 record in the most recent season and secured a spot in the WPIAL Class 5A playoffs, where they fell in the opening round to Penn‑Trafford. The program also shared a four‑way section title in 2024 and advanced to the quarterfinals before bowing out to the eventual champions, the Warriors.
Stepping Away for Family
Hastings, who also mentors the Marucci Spikes in the summer league, will now take a year away from high‑school coaching while remaining connected to the sport through that summer circuit.
Future on the Summer Circuit
The Spikes train at the Battleground Baseball Group facility in Callery, Butler County, and Hastings expressed confidence that the Fox Chapel program remains strong and will continue to thrive, citing the depth of talent and the solid foundation built over the past decade.
