A youth football camp scheduled for July 1 in North Carolina ended in disappointment when the promised star player failed to appear, and the organizing company did not answer any calls.
FlexWork Sports Management had promoted the event on social media, promising skill drills and a meet‑and‑greet with Tetairoa McMillan, the 2025 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and had charged roughly $100 per participant.
Parents and children arrived at the venue only to find the field empty, while some received last‑minute emails redirecting them to a different camp that conflicted with the new date, and others heard nothing at all.
The Promise That Fell Apart
A representative for McMillan later clarified that the camp had been canceled in February, that the player had no involvement in its planning, and that FlexWork had not consulted him before advertising the session.
Reynolds High School, which had offered its facilities for the camp, attempted to contact FlexWork to discuss field availability but received no response.
The lack of communication forced many families to seek refunds, and legal experts suggest that the situation could lead to formal action against the management firm.
While the refunds remain unresolved, McMillan may also pursue legal measures to protect his reputation from being tied to an event he never endorsed.
