The Kingston Frontenacs announced today that they have inked defenceman Gavin Godick to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, marking the latest step in the 18‑year‑old’s ascent toward the professional ranks.
Selected 47th overall in the third round of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, Godick brings a 6‑foot, 182‑pound frame and a right‑shot shot to the lineup. He previously honed his craft with the Don Mills Flyers U16 AAA program, where he posted 13 points in 28 games, showcasing his puck‑handling prowess and defensive reliability.
General manager’s endorsement
General manager Kory Cooper praised the young blueliner, highlighting his “exceptional puck‑handling skills and disciplined defensive play” as qualities that fit the Frontenacs’ long‑term vision.
Godick will join three other members of the 2026 draft class who have also signed scholarship agreements, underscoring the organization’s commitment to developing home‑grown talent.
The team confirmed that Godick will wear number 72 when he steps onto the ice this fall, a nod to the number he wore during his junior days.
The signing reflects a broader strategy by the Frontenacs to blend size, skill and work ethic, positioning the club for a competitive future in the OHL.
