Akai Fleming, a freshman guard, is set to join the Cincinnati Bearcats after completing a season with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
During that campaign he posted averages of 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, while shooting 37.3 % from the field and 32.9 % from three‑point range.
A Fresh Face in the Paint
Coach Jerrod Calhoun has highlighted Fleming’s scoring instincts and defensive versatility, noting that the young player brings valuable experience from a high‑level conference.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 101 prospect in the 2025 class and No. 30 among shooting guards in the transfer portal, Fleming also logged a 5.9 Game Score metric according to analyst John Hollinger.
His season‑high of 19 points came in narrow defeats to Cal and Stanford, underscoring both his potential and the areas where he can still grow.
While his shooting splits and relative youth suggest room for development, the influx of additional talent at Cincinnati is expected to lessen the early‑season pressure on the freshman.
