A Milestone for Marist Baseball
Bayram Hot’s name appeared on the draft board on Tuesday night as the New York Yankees selected him in the 10th round with the 308th overall pick. The selection marks the culmination of a two‑year stint at Marist College that saw the right‑handed hitter consistently rank among the nation’s most reliable on‑base threats.
During his freshman season, Hot posted a .382 batting average and a .466 on‑base percentage across 50 games, earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and a spot on the Second Team All‑MAAC. In his sophomore year he appeared in all 55 games, finishing with a .278 average and a .383 OBP while starting every contest.
Marist head coach Lance Ratchford expressed confidence in Hot’s potential, stating that the organization is excited to see how the young player will translate his collegiate success to the professional level. Ratchford highlighted Hot’s work ethic and baseball IQ as qualities that should serve him well in the minor leagues.
Hot’s draft placement also underscores a broader trend: he becomes the 22nd Marist alumnus to be selected in the MLB Draft, reflecting the program’s growing reputation for producing talent that reaches the professional ranks.
