Draft Highlights
The 2026 MLB Draft has become a milestone for the University of Tennessee baseball program, showcasing a depth of talent that extends beyond the first round.
Tegan Kuhns emerged as the sole Volunteer to hear his name called in the opening round, a testament to his dominant performance on the mound.
Within the first eight rounds, four Tennessee prospects secured contracts, including right‑hander Henry Ford, left‑hander Bo Rhuby, and reliever Garrett Wright, each of whom will now navigate the minor‑league systems of their respective clubs.
The draft also brought three former Volunteers back into the professional spotlight, among them Derek Schaefer and Matthew Dallas, whose collegiate careers helped anchor the 2024 national championship roster.
While several top signees were selected early, the program managed to preserve most of its recruiting class, giving the coaching staff the flexibility to retain late‑round picks Jake McCoy and Andrew Duncan, as well as Michael Teasley, who announced his intention to join the Volunteers after withdrawing from the draft.
Trevor Condon, another draftee, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to join the St. Louis Cardinals, signaling a promising transition to the next level.
Overall, the draft reflects a vibrant pipeline that links Tennessee’s collegiate success with professional opportunities, promising continued competitiveness on the national stage.
