A Former KU Star Faces Attempted Murder Charges
Lagerald Vick, a former University of Kansas basketball player who contributed to the Jayhawks’ success from 2015 to 2019, was taken into custody in Memphis after authorities say he shot a man during a Fourth of July party.
The alleged attack unfolded after an argument at the gathering, with investigators reporting that Vick fired a weapon that struck the victim in the lower back.
The victim identified Vick in a police lineup a few days later, confirming his involvement and prompting prosecutors to move forward with an attempted first‑degree murder charge.
Legal Status and Upcoming Hearing
Vick is being held on a $1.5 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13 for an arraignment, where the charges will be formally read.
His college career was marked by a leave of absence in his senior year, causing him to miss the final eight games of the season, but his impact on the program remains recognized.
