Voting opens for spring sports Player of the Year
The Gainesville Sun is rolling out its All‑Area teams for six spring high school sports, giving readers a chance to decide which athletes deserve the top honor.
In baseball, Newberry’s Tavis Honeycutt has already been named the big‑school Player of the Year by the newspaper, but the paper is now inviting the public to vote for their favorite among 12 nominees.
Voting for the baseball Player of the Year will remain open until noon on Friday, July 17, and fans may submit as many ballots as they wish.
The Sun’s All‑Area selections span baseball, softball, lacrosse, flag football, tennis and track and field, with each sport’s first‑team nominees forming the pool of candidates for the Player of the Year poll.
