A Coach's Dual Commitment
Jay Volker, the head football coach at Beechwood, has put to rest speculation that he might be stepping down after announcing a new teaching position outside the district.
Volker, who has led the Tigers since 2023, boasts a 37‑5 record over three seasons, captured the 2024 Kentucky Class 2A state championship and reached the semifinals in both 2023 and 2025.
He explained that the new classroom role is a practical step to better support his family, but emphasized that it will not distract from his duties on the sideline, where he intends to continue building on the program’s recent success.
