Clemson University announced today that Jarrell Chandler, a four-star safety prospect from Halls, has officially committed to the Tigers, choosing the Atlantic Coast Conference powerhouse over a handful of elite programs.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound rising senior was listed No. 11 among Tennessee’s top prospects and No. 24 nationally among safety recruits in the 247Sports Composite, a testament to his blend of size, speed and football IQ.
During Halls’ historic run to the Class 5A state semifinals, Chandler proved his versatility by contributing on both sides of the ball, a rarity that excited coaches on both sides of the ball.
As a receiver he caught 42 passes for 691 yards and seven touchdowns, using his route-running precision to stretch defenses downfield.
On defense he amassed 94 total tackles, eight pass deflections, six tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery, underscoring his playmaking ability in the secondary.
Versatility That Transcends Positions
Coaches praised his ability to line up at multiple spots, noting that his physicality at the line of scrimmage paired with his speed in coverage makes him a Swiss-army-knife piece for any scheme.
National Recognition
The recruit’s ranking reflects a broader consensus that places him among the nation’s most coveted defensive backs, a distinction that should translate into early playing time at Clemson.
What This Means for the Tigers
Chandler’s pledge not only bolsters the Tigers’ 2026 recruiting class but also signals a continued focus on acquiring athletes who can impact the game in multiple ways, a strategy that has paid dividends in recent seasons.
