A Strategic Move for Fans
AT&T announced that starting July 14 through 19, its postpaid wireless customers in the United States can place free voice calls to a set of countries that are hosting major soccer fixtures. The initiative coincides with semi‑final, third‑place and final matches.
The offer is limited to calls that originate on U.S. soil and applies only to voice service; text, picture messages, data sessions and roaming are excluded. No registration, promotional codes, taxes or fees are required for eligible calls.
Network Readiness at Key Venues
AT&T has been preparing its network for the heightened demand, investing in capacity upgrades at eleven venues that include stadiums, airports and major transportation centers. The upgrades are intended to keep fans connected while they stream, share and communicate during the tournament.
The investment spans eleven U.S. locations that serve as hubs for fans traveling to watch matches, ensuring that both spectators in stadiums and commuters at airports benefit from stronger signals and faster data speeds.
A Boost for Connectivity Beyond the Pitch
Beyond the free‑calling promotion, the carrier is highlighting other connectivity benefits such as Turbo Live priority data and dedicated public‑safety links through its FirstNet platform, which provides a separate, resilient network for emergency responders at venues and surrounding areas.
FirstNet, a public‑safety focused network operated by AT&T, will deliver priority connectivity for emergency services around stadiums, helping to coordinate responses and keep critical communications reliable during large events.
As the soccer tournament reaches its climax, AT&T’s free‑calling window offers fans a unique way to stay in touch with friends and family abroad, while the company’s network enhancements aim to keep the digital experience smooth for all participants.
