The Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League announced today that Daniel Jacob will take over as head coach, succeeding the previous regime and inheriting a roster eager for a fresh direction.
A Strategic Appointment
Jacob arrives with more than fifteen years of experience spanning junior leagues, the ECHL, and the AHL, having served in various capacities from player development aide to assistant coach.
Most recently, he spent two seasons as an assistant with the Rocket, working directly with the defense corps and overseeing the penalty kill, a role in which he earned praise for structuring disciplined play.
Prior to that, Jacob was an assistant at the Syracuse Crunch and the San Diego Gulls, where he honed his ability to translate NHL concepts to younger talent.
Before his coaching career, Jacob played four seasons at McGill University, where he recorded 37 points and 369 penalty minutes in 108 games, before brief stints with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and later professional teams in the AHL and Austria.
Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin praised Jacob’s alignment with the organization’s culture, stating that his proven track record in player development makes him the ideal leader to nurture the next generation of Habs prospects.
The appointment signals a commitment to continuity and growth, with the Rocket’s front office confident that Jacob’s values and work ethic will translate into competitive performance on the ice.
