Regional Honors Announced
The D2CCA All‑Southeast Region team has been released, and Lenoir‑Rhyne’s baseball program celebrates three of its own earning spots on the prestigious list. Their selections reflect a season marked by offensive production and reliable pitching, underscoring the Bears’ growing presence in Division II competition.
Procopio’s Breakout Season
Matt Procopio leads the group as a first‑team honoree. He finished the year batting .436, drove in 60 runs and was tied for the team lead with 78 hits. His combination of contact hitting and run production placed him among the most consistent offensive threats for the Bears.
Wainwright’s Consistent Hitting
Mackenzie Wainwright earned a second‑team nod after posting a .406 average, adding 59 RBIs and a .750 slugging percentage. That slugging mark ranks fifth all‑time in Lenoir‑Rhyne history, highlighting the significance of his power numbers alongside a high contact rate.
Gradisar’s Pitching Prowess
Junior hurler Kellen Gradisar rounded out the honorees on the second team. He posted a 2.99 earned‑run average, compiled an 8‑3 record and delivered six complete games, the second‑most in Division II. Notably, he blanked opponents in his final two starts, cementing his role as a dependable ace down the stretch.
Together, Procopio, Wainwright and Gradisar illustrate how the Bears blended a potent lineup with solid pitching to finish a competitive season. Their regional recognitions not only spotlight individual excellence but also reinforce the program’s upward trajectory within the conference.
