Texas A&M’s women’s golf program celebrated a double distinction this week as the Women’s Golf Coaches Association announced its 2025-26 All-American Scholar Team, naming junior Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and freshman Brynn Kort among its honorees.
The association recognizes student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 while competing in at least half of their team’s rounds, a standard both Aggies have clearly met.
For Fernández García-Poggio, the acknowledgment marks the third occasion she has been named to the scholar team, underscoring a consistent record of academic performance that complements her on-course achievements.
Kort, in her debut season, earned her first scholar-team nod after a rookie campaign that featured 13 tournaments and 35 rounds, helping the Aggies secure a No. 1 seed at the Waco Regional and climb to a No. 6 national ranking.
Their contributions were pivotal in the team’s regional success, a feat that reflects the program’s growing depth and competitiveness.
Beyond the scholar team, Fernández García-Poggio added further accolades this season, collecting CSC Academic All-District honors, being named to the All-SEC First Team, and earning a spot on the Golfweek Third Team All-American.
Kort, meanwhile, secured a place on the All-SEC Freshman Team, a testament to her rapid adaptation and impact in her first year.
The duo’s blend of scholarly diligence and athletic prowess illustrates the broader mission of Texas A&M athletics, where intellectual rigor and competitive excellence are pursued in tandem.
