The recent District 33 baseball championships concluded with a double triumph for the Elk Lake Majors, who secured the title in dramatic fashion.
Sectional Play on the Horizon
The Majors posted a 5‑0 victory over Tunkhannock on July 10, followed by a tense 1‑0 win two days later on July 12, underscoring the team’s pitching dominance.
With the championship in hand, the Majors will now turn their attention to Sectional Play, scheduled to begin on July 18, where they will meet the top squads from adjacent districts.
In the Minor division, the Roosevelt Trail Minors also captured the District 33 crown, prevailing 11‑6 over Blue Ridge on July 11.
Their advancement mirrors the Majors’ schedule, as the Minors will also step onto the Sectional stage on July 18, promising another round of high‑stakes competition.
Conversely, the Christy Mathewson All‑Star programs saw their campaigns cut short in District 32, with the Majors falling 9‑2 to Green Ridge on July 9 and the Minors dropping a 7‑4 decision to Mid Valley the same night.
As the Sectional games approach, local fans can expect a fresh slate of matchups that will determine the next tier of champions across the region.
