A new chapter for the Canucks prospect
Kieren Dervin, a recent prospect of the Vancouver Canucks, is set to begin his NCAA hockey journey at the University of Michigan, bringing with him the experience he gained from a standout season with the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs.
During that campaign he recorded 17 goals and 25 assists, numbers that helped him forge connections with Canucks development coaches Mike Komisarek and Mikael Samuelsson, as well as fellow prospects Riley Patterson and Anthony Romani.
Dervin says the speed of college hockey excites him, and he has spent the summer sharpening his decision‑making in game‑like scenarios to hit the ice ready for the faster pace.
His visit to Ann Arbor in late June gave him a first look at teammates and the campus, a step that aligns with Michigan’s recent on‑ice achievements. The Wolverines finished the previous season at 31‑8‑1, captured the Big Ten championship and advanced to the Frozen Four before falling to Denver University, the eventual national champions.
