A Program at a Crossroads
The McCracken County Youth Soccer Association (MCYSA) announced that registration for its fall 2026 season will be delayed while the organization works to secure a clear agreement with McCracken County regarding the use of the local soccer complex.
Leadership has been in talks with both county officials and Sports Facilities Companies about a possible recreational youth soccer program at the Paducah Sports Park, but the future of the current arrangement remains uncertain.
Volunteers have long maintained the fields in exchange for priority access, and the nonprofit fears that without a formal written clarification the program could be forced to discontinue operations.
Organizers anticipate that roughly 700 children will eventually take part in the league, a figure that underscores the program’s importance to the community.
Hanna Seyb, a family nurse practitioner and mother of an MCYSA player, voiced the concerns of many parents, emphasizing how the league builds confidence, friendships and sportsmanship among young participants.
To address the growing questions, MCYSA has scheduled a community meeting for July 24, inviting families, volunteers and local stakeholders to discuss the situation and hear directly from county representatives.
As of now, McCracken County officials have not responded to requests for comment, leaving families to wait for further updates on the program’s fate.
