UAB Baseball earns ABCA academic honor for 11th straight season

Program celebrates record GPA and historic offensive stats

Academic Excellence Meets Athletic Triumph

UAB Baseball has once again secured a place on the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Excellence Award list, marking the 11th consecutive season the program has earned the honor.

The achievement underscores a sustained academic standard, with the team maintaining a collective GPA above 3.0 for the 14th straight year — the highest cumulative GPA recorded in at least the past five years.

Beyond the classroom, the Blazers delivered a historic performance on the diamond, establishing new program records for home runs (85), bases on balls (297) and times hit by pitch (89) during the 2025‑26 campaign.

Assistant AD for Student‑Athlete Support Services, Nate Rouse, has been a central figure in guiding players toward academic success, while head coach Casey Dunn has overseen the team’s competitive surge.

The semester also saw 30 players finish with a 3.0 GPA or higher, 17 post a 3.5 GPA or above, and three achieve a perfect 4.0, including a standout group of ten who posted a 4.0 GPA during the spring 2026 term.

UAB’s recognition adds to a broader landscape of excellence, as the program joins 132 Division I teams honored this season and stands among six institutions from the American Conference to receive the distinction, and one of only 13 teams to appear on all 11 award lists since the initiative’s inception in 2015‑16.
