Scotty Milan, a Fort Collins‑based driver, is gearing up for his first NASCAR start in the ARCA series at Colorado National Speedway on May 23. Growing up around his father’s auto body shop, Milan spent his childhood watching engines roar and learning the mechanics of speed.
The upcoming race will take place on the half‑mile asphalt oval in Dacono, Colorado, with the green flag dropping at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online, giving fans a chance to see Milan race in front of family and friends in his hometown.
Milan says the prospect of performing before a home crowd adds a special layer of excitement to the weekend. "It’s a dream come true to race where I grew up," he said, noting that the support of loved ones will be a major boost.
The debut marks a return to asphalt after a period spent primarily on dirt tracks. Milan’s résumé includes quarter‑midget, sprint car and other open‑wheel experiences, giving him a versatile skill set that he hopes will translate to the new surface.
A hometown debut
For Milan, the race is more than a career milestone; it is an opportunity to showcase the talent honed in his father’s garage and to feel the adrenaline rush that comes with launching off the start line. The event will be a vivid reminder of how far he has come from the early days of tinkering with go‑karts to competing on a national stage.
