Western Kentucky University’s men’s basketball program received a boost this week as head coach Hank Plona confirmed the addition of Noah Norgaard to the 2026‑27 roster. The announcement was made during a virtual press conference streamed to fans across the United States.
A Danish Talent Joins the Hilltoppers
Norgaard arrives in Bowling Green after a standout sophomore season at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he averaged 7.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Plona highlighted the sophomore’s ability to stretch the floor, create scoring opportunities for teammates and lock down opponents on defense.
The Hilltoppers’s coaching staff also noted a memorable performance in the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals, where Norgaard erupted for a season‑high 17 points in a 75‑72 victory over Wofford, underscoring his clutch potential.
International Accolades
Beyond his collegiate numbers, Norgaard brings a résumé of international competition. He has represented Denmark at multiple age‑group levels and captured the MVP award at the 2025 FIBA U18 EuroBasket Division B tournament, where he posted averages of 18.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
His 30‑point outburst in the championship game of that tournament remains a highlight, showcasing a scoring burst that helped Denmark secure the title. Plona emphasized that such experience on a global stage will enrich the team’s competitive edge.
