Ben Shrewsbury, the Virginia Military Institute’s standout punter, has been selected as a Preseason All‑American by FCS Football Central on SI, and he also earned First Team All‑American honors from Stats Perform.
During his junior year, Shrewsbury set a Southern Conference record with 4,075 punting yards, averaging 47.9 yards per kick across 87 attempts. That production placed him third nationally in punt average among Division I players.
The accolades continued as he was named a Stats Perform FCS All‑American and a semifinalist for the Augusta Sports FCS Punter of the Year award, while also landing on the All‑SoCon First Team at specialist.
Shrewsbury’s leg proved especially potent in the latter part of the season, booting 42 kicks that traveled at least 50 yards and delivering a career‑best 63‑yard punt in a game against ETSU.
A Season of Excellence
His performance has helped elevate VMI’s special teams unit and underscores the program’s growing competitiveness in the FCS landscape.
