A Season of Excellence
Georgia Tech’s baseball program is celebrating a double milestone in leadership, promoting pitching coach Matt Taylor to associate head coach and elevating Josh Schulman to recruiting coordinator.
The Yellow Jackets capped the 2026 campaign by securing the ACC regular‑season title for the second straight year and capturing their first ACC tournament championship since 2014, while shattering offensive benchmarks such as team batting average, OPS and runs scored.
The impact of those achievements rippled into the draft, where eight Yellow Jackets were selected, including a pair of top‑10 picks — Vahn Lackey and Drew Burress — who helped the club amass a combined slot value of $21.7 million, the highest total among all collegiate programs.
Taylor’s fingerprints are evident in the staff’s transformation into one of the nation’s most competitive units, a turnaround that produced back‑to‑back ERAs under 5.00 and yielded seven draft picks and two undrafted free agents who signed professional contracts.
Schulman, meanwhile, contributed to the development of four draft selections and has been part of five consecutive 40‑win seasons throughout his coaching career, underscoring his consistent ability to build winning teams.
Beyond the field, Georgia Tech has launched a $500 million fundraising drive called Full Steam Ahead, aimed at bolstering its athletics infrastructure and ensuring sustained excellence across all sports.
