Florida International University’s football program sent a delegation to the 2026 Conference USA Kickoff in Arlington, Texas, where the team took part in a series of media activities tied to the upcoming season.
Head coach Willie Simmons, quarterback JJ Kohl and defensive back Shamir Sterlin represented the university, appearing on the ESPN+ CUSA Preseason Kickoff live show hosted by Mike Corey on Monday.
The events unfolded at the Texas Live! Arena and the Loews Arlington Hotel & Convention Center, giving the squad multiple platforms to connect with fans and journalists.
On Tuesday, the team participated in a traditional press conference at the Loews Arlington Hotel, fielding questions about roster expectations, training plans and the broader impact of the conference realignment.
University officials said the kickoff underscores FIU’s growing presence in collegiate athletics and highlights the institution’s commitment to competitive football at the national level.
