The Augustana Vikings baseball team has been recognized with the ABCA/Sports Attack Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025-26 academic year, a distinction that highlights the program’s commitment to scholarly achievement as well as athletic competitiveness.
Academic Excellence Award Recognizes Dual Success
The squad posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.35, comfortably exceeding the minimum 3.00 threshold that the award requires, and was among nearly 500 collegiate programs honored for meeting the standard.
During the 2026 campaign the Vikings compiled a 45-16 overall record, capturing their fifth appearance in a Super Regional and underscoring the team’s sustained on-field success.
In conference play the team went 30-7 in the NSIC and posted a program-best 24-2 record at home, figures that helped cement its reputation as a dominant force in the region.
The accolade also places Augustana within a broader narrative of academic distinction in college sports, a tradition that the American Baseball Coaches Association has championed since founding its All-America Teams in 1949.
The ABCA’s Awards Program encompasses a suite of honors, from the Hall of Fame to the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award, reflecting the organization’s long-standing emphasis on integrity and excellence.
Team officials said the recognition serves as a reminder that success in the classroom can complement triumphs on the diamond, a philosophy that continues to guide the Vikings’ culture.
