Academic Excellence on the Court
The Saint Joseph's women's basketball program has once again been celebrated for its scholarly achievements, earning Special Mention on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the 2025‑26 academic year. The team posted a collective cumulative GPA of 3.618, reflecting the dedication of its student‑athletes both in the classroom and on the hardwood.
Thirteen of the Hawks maintained a GPA above 3.00, while nine pushed the benchmark to 3.50 or higher. Rising junior Cecilia Kay stood out with a flawless 4.00 GPA, underscoring the program’s commitment to academic rigor.
A Tradition of Consistent Recognition
Coach Cindy Griffin, who has guided the squad for several seasons, praised the student‑athletes for embodying the university’s mission of integrating scholarship and sport. "Their work ethic in the classroom mirrors the intensity they bring to every game," Griffin said.
This marks the fifth consecutive year the Hawks have been honored on the WBCA list, a streak that began in 2022 and reflects a sustained culture of excellence. The recognition also ties the program to the broader academic community of Philadelphia, where the university continues to foster leadership beyond the arena.
University officials highlighted the achievement as a testament to Saint Joseph's holistic approach to student development, noting that the honor reinforces the institution’s reputation as a leader in collegiate athletics and academic distinction.
