New Mexico Baseball has once again been recognized with the 2025‑26 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, marking the fifth consecutive year the program has earned the honor. The accolade is reserved for teams that post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, and the Lobos achieved a 3.67 team GPA for the 2025‑26 academic year.
A Legacy of Scholarship
Breaking down the performance, the squad recorded a 3.72 GPA during the fall semester and a 3.62 GPA in the spring, underscoring consistent scholarly achievement across both terms.
This sustained academic record is part of a broader trend at the University of New Mexico, where 27 of the last 28 semesters have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Notably, the eight highest semester GPAs in program history were all posted under the guidance of Head Coach Tod Brown.
The ABCA’s academic award extends beyond college programs; it also honors high school teams, with more than 800 institutions nationwide receiving the distinction in 2025‑26. In total, nearly 500 college programs and over 320 high school programs were celebrated for meeting the association’s rigorous standards.
