The University of Jamestown’s baseball squad has been honored with the 2025‑26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, a distinction that underscores the program’s commitment to scholarly achievement as well as athletic competition.
A Tradition of Recognition
The award, administered by the American Baseball Coaches Association in partnership with Sports Attack, is granted to teams that post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, a benchmark that reflects both classroom rigor and team cohesion.
This year’s cohort of honorees is expansive, with nearly five hundred college programs and more than three hundred twenty high school teams across the nation receiving the accolade, illustrating a widespread culture of academic ambition within the sport.
Eligibility required programs to be sponsored by a current ABCA member head coach and to submit nominations before the July 17 deadline, a process that Sports Attack facilitated by inviting coaches to put forward their squads for consideration.
A Legacy of Excellence
The American Baseball Coaches Association has long been regarded as the sport’s premier professional organization, fostering mentorship among coaches and championing the development of student‑athletes both on and off the diamond. Its recognition program, founded in 1949, has expanded to include all‑region teams, coach of the year awards, and ethics honors such as the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
