The University of Maine announced a significant addition to its women's soccer program for the 2026 season, revealing six freshmen and two transfer players who will join the existing squad.
The new recruits include forwards, midfielders and goalkeepers from across North America and Europe, each bringing a distinct set of skills and experiences.
A Fresh Wave of Talent
The transfers, Sandrine Brault and Isabelle Meadows, bring collegiate experience from Oklahoma State and the University of Connecticut, respectively, and are expected to add depth in attacking positions.
Coach Scott Atherley praised the incoming class, describing them as exceptional students, players and people, and emphasized how their diverse backgrounds will enrich the team's dynamics.
Highlights include Ashley Kraemer, a versatile midfielder from Waterloo, Ontario, known for her competitive spirit; Juliane Belanger, a Quebec forward who captured the 2024–25 Golden Boot; and Thea Arkdal‑Ranebro, a Swedish goalkeeper with a track and field background.
The coaching staff also looks forward to the defensive solidity that Jenna McIntyre, a Calgary native, and the midfield presence of Hannah Wehmeyer, a German cup winner, will provide.
With a blend of domestic talent and international experience, the 2026 roster aims to build on recent successes and contend for a national championship.
