Oakland University Baseball Honored with Fifth Consecutive ABCA Academic Excellence Award
The Golden Grizzlies baseball program at Oakland University has once again been celebrated for its commitment to academic excellence, capturing the American Baseball Coaches' Association’s Academic Excellence Award for the 2025‑26 season.
The award, which honors collegiate teams that maintain a collective grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, underscores the program’s dual focus on athletic performance and scholarship.
This marks the fifth straight year the Golden Grizzlies have earned the distinction, placing them among a select group of programs that have sustained academic standards while competing at the NCAA Division I level.
During the spring term, 14 members of the roster posted GPAs of 3.5 or higher, and two athletes achieved perfect 4.0 averages, highlighting the depth of scholarly talent within the squad.
Nearly 500 college programs across the country were recognized this year, reflecting a growing emphasis on academic achievement in collegiate baseball.
Leadership within the program attributes the success to a supportive environment that prioritizes both athletic and academic growth, ensuring that student‑athletes can excel on the field and in the classroom.
