Washington College Baseball Earns National Academic Honor

Shoremen Join Elite Group of Conference Programs Recognized for Scholarship

Shoremen Earn National Academic Honor

The American Baseball Coaches Association has named the Washington College baseball program a recipient of its Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025‑26 academic year, a distinction reserved for teams that maintain a collective grade‑point average above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

The Shoremen, members of the Centennial Conference, were among just seven programs from that league to receive the honor, underscoring the conference’s growing emphasis on academic achievement alongside athletic competition.

Nationwide, more than 500 collegiate teams were recognized by the ABCA, reflecting a broad commitment across Division I, II and III programs to integrate scholarly rigor with athletic pursuits.

The award celebrates the program’s disciplined approach to time management, access to tutoring resources and close collaboration with faculty, elements that have become integral to the team’s culture.

While the accolade honors collective performance, it also serves as a reminder of the college’s broader mission to develop well‑rounded student‑athletes who excel both on the diamond and in the classroom.
