A New Chapter for Soccer at SUNY Sullivan
SUNY Sullivan has appointed Scott Goodman and Lenny Miret as the first head coaches for its newly created intercollegiate men's and women's soccer programs, marking the college's entry into varsity soccer this fall.
Goodman, a U.S. Soccer Federation‑licensed coach with nearly three decades of experience, will guide the women's squad. Beyond his role as Executive Director and Head Coach of the Hudson Valley Athletic Club, he also directs the Olympic Development Program North for the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association, where he led twelve players to the 2025 East Regional Camp and saw three earn spots on the ODP National Team.
Miret, a lifelong soccer player and coach, will lead the men's team. His career spans player development, training, officiating and community outreach, most recently as stewardship coordinator at Catskill Mountainkeeper, where he managed volunteer programs and fostered local engagement.
Leadership Vision
David Potash, president of SUNY Sullivan, emphasized that the programs reflect the institution's commitment to enriching student life through athletic participation. Recruitment for both rosters is already underway, with the college seeking student‑athletes who will excel on the field and in the classroom.
The arrival of Goodman and Miret sets the stage for a vibrant soccer culture at SUNY Sullivan, promising competitive play and holistic development for the inaugural classes that will take the pitch this autumn.
