Latvian Giant Peteris Pinnis Joins Oregon State Basketball

Peteris Pinnis, a 7‑foot‑1 forward from Salaspils, Latvia, has officially signed with the Oregon State men’s basketball program, adding a rare combination of size and mobility to the Beavers’ frontcourt.

The 22‑year‑old previously spent two seasons at Providence College, where he appeared in 18 games and shot 53.8 percent from the field, showcasing a polished offensive game that complements his rebounding instincts.

A Towering Presence on the Court

During the 2024‑25 campaign he logged a season‑high 16 minutes and pulled down six rebounds against Florida, and his career‑high 18 points and 11 rebounds came against Viimsi on Oct. 9, underscoring his rapid development.

Pinnis also earned notice on the international stage, competing for Latvia in the FIBA U20 European Championships and averaging nearly a double‑double with 9.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Coach Justin Joyner praised the new addition, noting that Pinnis’s blend of height, work ethic and basketball IQ should give the Beavers a formidable interior presence as they aim for a competitive season.

Fans can expect to see a player who not only dominates the paint but also moves well on the perimeter, a skill set that could reshape Oregon State’s tactical approach in the coming months.
