Andrews High School in Texas has announced a leadership change on the gridiron, naming Jason Richters as its new head football coach.
Richters steps into the role after serving as the team's defensive coordinator under the guidance of Tom Harvey, who announced his retirement to accept a similar position at Jal High School in New Mexico.
Harvey spent four seasons as the Mustangs' head coach, compiling a 23‑24 record and guiding the squad to an unbeaten district run of 3‑0 last year.
During that season the Mustangs finished 5‑6 overall, a performance that Richters helped shape from the sidelines.
A Philosophy of Discipline and Unity
In a statement released to the community, Richters expressed gratitude to God, his family, the school administration, the board of trustees and the local community for the opportunity to lead the program.
He outlined a philosophy built on discipline, toughness, accountability and love, promising to ready players, commit coaches and anchor the team on effort, toughness and unity.
Richters said his ultimate aim is to steer the Mustangs back to a district title and secure a playoff berth by 2026.
