A Season of Promise
The Redhawks’ 2025 campaign came within a whisker of a state title, bowing out just before the Final Four and leaving the program buzzing with optimism for the next season.
A glance at the 2026 slate reveals a gauntlet of Hockomock League rivals, with marquee matchups slated against Milford and Mansfield, while also welcoming Division 3 semifinalist Milton to the schedule.
At the helm of the offense, senior quarterback Matt Caissie will once again direct the attack after amassing 1,240 passing yards and 13 touchdowns last year, giving the team a proven playmaker under center.
Complementing Caissie’s experience will be a potent receiving duo in Brandon Leshinski and Colin Bubonovich, both of whom are expected to shoulder larger roles now that the top two receivers from the previous season have graduated.
The departure of eight league all‑stars, highlighted by Carey MVP James Mortarelli, creates both a challenge and an opportunity for younger players to step up, with senior Mike Whalen among those looking to fill the void.
Coach Mike Whalen, who has guided the program for several years, emphasized continuity and preparation, noting that the team’s chemistry and work ethic will be key as they navigate a demanding schedule.
Beyond the immediate matchups, the Redhawks will also face traditional foes such as Needham, Newton North, Brookline, Wellesley, Walpole and Framingham, ensuring a rigorous test week after week.
