Michigan State's women's basketball program has been recognized for its academic performance, receiving a Special Mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for the 2025‑26 season.

The team posted a collective grade point average of 3.523, satisfying the association's requirement of a 3.0 GPA or higher for the honor roll.
This marks the ninth time a Big Ten school has earned the WBCA Academic Special Mention this year, highlighting the conference's emphasis on scholar‑athletes.
The distinction is part of the WBCA's 31st annual honor roll, which celebrates programs that combine athletic competition with strong classroom results.
Player Achievements
Five Spartans earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors, including seniors Emma Shumate and Inés Sotelo, who posted perfect 4.0 GPAs, and teammates Theyn Hallock, Abbey Kimball and Grace VanSlooten, who also received the conference's academic accolade.
Coach praised the team's dedication, noting that success in the classroom reflects the program's broader culture of excellence.
