Paris Basketball Secures Max Lefevre as Head Coach
Paris Basketball is on the verge of finalising a deal that will appoint Max Lefevre as its new head coach, ending a brief stint by Julius Thomas in an interim capacity.
Lefevre, a French native who moved to the United States as a young player, climbed the coaching ladder through stints at Texas Tech, where he helped the team reach the 2019 NCAA championship game and capture the Big 12 regular‑season title, and later served as an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves since the 2019‑20 season. He also guided Minnesota in the 2023 NBA Summer League and brings a blend of European roots and NBA experience to the role.
A French Coach Returns Home
Born in France and educated at Avila University before earning a master’s degree in sports administration from Angelo State, Lefevre combines academic insight with practical leadership. His career trajectory reflects a steady progression from player development to head‑coaching opportunities, culminating in his first permanent senior‑level position abroad.
The club had also examined Dave Joerger and Guillaume Vizade, but both chose to remain in their current positions, leaving Lefevre as the clear candidate. His appointment replaces Julius Thomas, who had served as interim head coach, and marks a strategic shift toward a more analytically driven system.
The move is expected to infuse Paris Basketball with a hybrid tactical philosophy that blends European fundamentals with the data‑centric approach honed in the NBA, a prospect that has excited fans and analysts alike.
