The second annual Tailgate with Timmy fundraiser took place at Ruby Tuesday Hawaiʻi in Moanalua, drawing a larger crowd than the previous year, with about 50 more tickets sold.
Attendees paid $100 for tickets that included all‑you‑can‑eat food and drinks, enjoying ribs, hamburger steak and a salad bar while mingling with coaches and players. Chef Sam Choy served fresh poke outside the venue.
UH athletics director Matt Elliott highlighted the importance of the connection between fans and players, saying the relationship fuels the program’s growth.
A shared vision of support
Head coach Timmy Chang emphasized the mutual responsibility between the team and the community, noting that each lifts the other.
Longtime supporter Rick Nakashima, who owns the Hawaii location of Ruby Tuesday, helped launch the event last year and continues to champion it.

Organizers said the gathering builds excitement for the upcoming season and that those who could not attend can still donate at HawaiiAthletics.com. The Rainbow Warriors are set to open fall camp next Wednesday.
