Fall Classic Returns to Chicago
The United States Hockey League has unveiled the timetable for its 2026 Fall Classic, a five‑day showcase that will run from September 16 through September 20 at the Blackhawks Ice Center in Chicago.
All 16 USHL member clubs will use the event to play their first two regular‑season games, while a parallel youth tournament will run alongside the main competition.
Organizers expect the tournament to attract more than 2,000 athletes and to draw in excess of 400 scouts from NCAA programs and NHL teams, underscoring its role as a premier evaluation platform.
The classic has been a staple of the junior hockey calendar for a decade; its previous iteration was held in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, before the league decided to bring the spotlight back to the Midwest.
A State‑of‑the‑Art Venue
The Blackhawks Ice Center, presented by Fifth Third Bank, offers a modern facility with multiple Olympic‑size rinks, advanced lighting and a fan‑friendly atmosphere that will host the majority of the games.
The schedule will culminate on Sunday, September 20, with a highly anticipated matchup between the Omaha Lancers and the Madison Capitols, a finale that promises intense competition.
Dan Lehv, Chicago Blackhawks Vice President and Chicago Steel President, said he is thrilled to welcome the league and its prospects to Chicago, highlighting the city’s deep hockey roots.
Glenn Hefferan, USHL President and Commissioner, praised the collaboration with the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Steel, noting that the venue’s capabilities align perfectly with the league’s growth ambitions.
The USHL and its 16 teams are committed to being the world’s leading junior hockey league; more than half of all NCAA Division I men’s hockey players and nearly a quarter of NHL skaters have previously honed their games in the league.
