NMU Wildcats Hockey Marks 50 Years with Festive Week of Events

From July 30 to August 1, 2026, the university will host a series of public celebrations, including a brewery kick‑off, campus open house, alumni reception and a charity golf outing

Northern Michigan University’s hockey program is gearing up for a milestone celebration that will span three days in late July and early August 2026.

Event Schedule

The festivities kick off on July 30 at Blackrocks Brewery, where fans and alumni will gather for a launch party that sets the tone for the upcoming celebrations.

The following day, July 31, the Berry Events Center will open its doors for an open house, offering visitors a chance to explore the historic venue and learn about the team’s legacy.

Also on July 31, Ore Dock Brewing will host a welcome‑back reception, providing a relaxed setting for former players, coaches and supporters to reconnect.

The celebration culminates on August 1 with a charity golf outing at the NMU Golf Course. The event, priced at $240 per team, will channel all proceeds toward sustaining the Wildcats hockey program.

While most of the activities are free and open to the public, the golf outing serves as the primary fundraising component, underscoring the community’s commitment to the sport.

Assistant coach Phil Fox, a Wildcats alumnus who captained the team in 2011, will be available over the weekend to answer questions about the events. He can be reached at pfox@nmu.edu.
